An integrated AFM and optical microscope for bioscience research.
This system performs the same as any AFM, but with the added benefit of fluorescent sample imaging which can be co-localized to AFM region of interest.
The IX83 microscope base allows for in situ fluorescent microscopy along with AFM characterization
Objectives: 10x (NA 0.3), 40x (NA 0.75), 60x (NA 0.9)
The Closed Fluid Cell (CFC) for MFP-3D AFMs is designed to hold gases or liquids either statically or with perfusion through configurable inlet/outlet ports. The unique design enables the cell, sample, and cantilever holder to be fully assembled and sealed in a controlled environment (e.g. glovebox or hood) and then transferred to the AFM for use. Two related versions are available: 1) the “Fluid Cell Lite” that has no inlet/outlet ports and minimizes evaporation but is not completely sealed, and 2) the “Electrical Closed Cell,” which enables electrical connections to the sample.
The BioHeater is similar in design to the Closed Fluid Cell except that an integrated immersion heating element and temperature sensor are positioned in the fluid volume, allowing imaging in fluid between ambient and 80°C. It supports samples up to 25 mm in diameter. The kit includes various sample accessories and spare parts, as well as a membrane and clamp for sealed operation. (Compatible with all MFP-3D AFMs except Origin.)

Ten ports are available—seven for liquid and gas exchange and electrical access, and three used by the heating element
The Humidity Sensing Cell measures humidity conditions with a sensor located within a sealed sample cell. The cell supports samples up to 30 mm in diameter. In addition, a moat that surrounds the sample with a salt solution allows for humidity control. The kit includes various sample accessories, as well as a membrane and clamp for sealed operation (compatible with all MFP-3D AFMs except Origin).
Small sealed sample chamber with a dedicated side access port for the solid state humidity sensor
Humidity control can be accomplished by filling a cup with concentrated salt solutions or by flowing a mixture of dry and wet gas through one of the four access ports
Ztherm combines powerful conventional and new advanced thermal analysis capabilities with the high resolution of AFM, and adds patent pending compensation for thermally-induced cantilever bending and measurement of contact stiffness and dissipation for the highest sensitivity and resolution available. The Ztherm Option provides highly localized heating with sensitivity to ≤10-22 liter (sub-zeptoliter) materials property changes, more than an order of magnitude improvement in volume over that previously available with commercial systems.
